아레오바고(Areopagus)란?
아레오바고(Areopagus)는 고대 아테네의 대표적인 공론 공간 가운데 하나였다.

왜 이 시리즈를 시작하는가?
한국 교회에는 수많은 설교와 찬양, 간증 콘텐츠가 존재한다.
그러나 디지털 공간에서 기독 콘텐츠의 영향력은 기대에 미치지 못하는 경우가 적지 않다.
사람들은 매일 방대한 양의 콘텐츠를 소비하지만, 복음이 과연 그들의 일상적 대화와 관심사 속에 자연스럽게 스며들고 있는지 점검할 필요가 있다.
문제는 복음 자체에 있지 않을 수 있다.
오히려 복음을 전달하는 방식과 언어, 그리고 사람들이 모이는 공간에 대한 이해가 충분하지 않았던 것은 아닌지 돌아볼 시점이다.
초대교회는 이러한 점에서 분명한 방향성을 제시한다.
사도 바울은 사람들이 있는 곳으로 나아갔다.
로마 제국의 도로망과 주요 도시들을 활용해 선교 여행을 이어갔고, 사람들이 모여 대화하는 공간으로 들어갔다.
그렇다면 오늘날 교회는 어떠한가.
우리는 사람들이 모이는 공간을 충분히 이해하고 있는가.
우리는 디지털 시대의 공론장으로 적극적으로 나아가고 있는가.
「디지털 아레오바고」는 단순한 SNS 활용법이나 콘텐츠 제작 방법을 다루는 시리즈가 아니다.
또한 복음을 변화시키자는 제안도 아니다.
오히려 변하지 않는 복음이 어떻게 시대의 언어와 플랫폼을 만날 수 있는지, 초대교회의 발자취를 따라 함께 탐구하고자 하는 시도이다.

What Is the Areopagus?
The Areopagus was one of the most important public forums in ancient Athens.
It was a place where philosophers and citizens gathered to discuss new ideas and the questions of their time. In Acts 17, the Apostle Paul is recorded as engaging with people at the Areopagus and proclaiming the gospel.
Some missiologists have compared today’s digital spaces to a modern-day Areopagus—a place where people meet, communicate, and influence one another.
People no longer gather primarily in physical public squares.
Instead, they meet through YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, news platforms, AI tools, and social media networks.
If so, where does the Areopagus exist in the digital age?
Digital Areopagus is a series that explores the connection between the spread of the gospel in the early church and today’s digital networks, asking how the gospel continues to travel through the pathways of each generation.
Why This Series?
The Korean church is not lacking in content.
There are countless sermons, worship songs, testimonies, videos, and Christian media resources available today.
Yet Christian content often struggles to make a meaningful impact in the broader digital landscape.
People consume enormous amounts of content every day. The question is whether the gospel is finding its way naturally into their conversations, interests, and daily lives.
The problem may not be the gospel itself.
It may be that we have not fully understood the language, methods, and gathering places of the people we seek to reach.
The early church offers a different model.
Paul went where people were.
He traveled along the roads of the Roman Empire, visited major cities, and entered public spaces where ideas were exchanged.
What about the church today?
Do we understand where people gather?
Are we willing to step into the public spaces of the digital age?
Digital Areopagus is not a guide to social media marketing or content production.
Nor is it a call to change the gospel.
Rather, it is an attempt to explore how the unchanging gospel can engage with the language, platforms, and networks of a changing world.
