안철수 국민의힘 의원이 12일 국회 소통관에서 기자회견을 열고 무소속 한동훈 의원(전 국민의힘 대표)의 국민의힘 복당을 공식 반대하며 “이제 우리 당에는 얼씬도 하지 말기 바란다”고 밝혔다.
안 의원은 이날 기자회견에 이어 자신의 공식 페이스북에 공개한 입장문을 통해 “저 안철수는 한동훈 의원의 국민의힘 복당을 공식적으로 반대한다”며 최근 추경호 대구시장 재판 증언 이후 벌어진 논란을 복당 반대 이유로 제시했다.
안 의원은 그동안 당원 게시판 의혹에 대한 명확한 해명이 선행된다면 한 의원의 복당을 반대할 이유가 없다고 생각해 왔다면서도, 이번 재판 이후 상황을 계기로 입장이 바뀌었다고 설명했다.
그는 “추경호 시장 재판에 증인으로 진술한 후 상상도 하지 못했던 반응을 접했다”며 “한동훈 의원이 복당한다면 당이 어떻게 혼란에 휩싸일지 그 예고편을 목격할 수 있었다”고 주장했다.
안 의원은 최근 추경호 대구시장 재판에 증인으로 출석해 지난해 12월 3일 비상계엄 당시 자신이 직접 듣고 확인한 사실만을 법정에서 증언했다고 밝혔다.
그는 “당시 당사에 함께 모여 있던 분들로부터 ‘먼저 당사로 가자고 한 것은 한동훈 대표’라는 말을 들었고, 이후 당의 공식 자료를 통해 그것이 사실임을 확인했다”며 “누구를 위해서도, 누구를 겨냥해서도 아닌 오직 사실만을 증언했다”고 말했다.
이어 “한동훈 의원은 마치 제가 왜곡과 선동을 한 것처럼 몰아갔다”며 “사실을 사실대로 말한 증언을 허위로 둔갑시키는 것이야말로 명백한 허위사실 유포이자 명예훼손”이라고 비판했다.
또 “한동훈 의원 본인은 같은 재판에 증인으로 여러 차례 소환되고도 단 한 번도 출석하지 않았다”며 “할 말이 있다면 ‘폐문부재’ 뒤에 숨지 말고 법정에 출석해 증언하면 될 일”이라고 주장했다.
안 의원은 비상계엄을 막은 것은 한 의원 혼자만의 공이 아니라고도 강조했다.
그는 “당시 우리 당 의원들도 표결 현장에 있었고, 당사에 남아 미처 표결에 참여하지 못했던 의원들도 공동으로 계엄 반대 성명서를 냈다”며 “왜 그날의 역사가 오직 한동훈 한 사람의 영웅 서사가 되어야 하느냐”고 반문했다.
이어 안 의원은 “이른바 친한계 스피커들도 법정에서 사실을 증언한 자당 중진 의원을 공격하고 조롱했다”며 “당내 동료를 적으로 규정하고 여론전에 몰두하는 것은 개인에 대한 명예훼손이자 명백한 해당행위”라고 주장했다.
복당 반대 이유에 대해서는 “한 의원이 당 밖에 있는데도 이 정도인데 복당하게 되면 완장을 달고 한 의원의 입장과 조금만 어긋나도 공격 대상이 될 것”이라며 “당 전체는 계파 갈등과 소모적 내전에 빠지고, 그 피해는 보수 시민 전체가 떠안게 될 것”이라고 말했다.
이어 “총선 승리는 엄두도 못 내는 파국의 상황으로 치달을 것”이라며 “한 의원은 이제 우리 당에는 얼씬도 하지 말기 바란다. 혹시 창당을 생각하고 있다면 응원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
안 의원은 입장문 말미에서 “다시 한번 분명히 말씀드린다”며 “저는 한동훈 의원의 국민의힘 복당을 단호히 반대한다”고 거듭 강조했다.
한편 한 의원은 앞서 안 의원의 법정 증언과 관련해 “시간이 조금 지났다고 왜곡하려는 시도가 있어서는 안 된다”며 “국회가 봉쇄됐다는 보고를 받고 일단 당사로 모인 뒤 다시 국회로 이동한 것”이라는 취지로 반박했다. 한 의원 측은 안 의원의 증언이 당시 상황의 선후관계를 왜곡한 것이라는 입장을 유지하고 있다.

Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party (PPP) officially opposed the return of independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the PPP, declaring that Han “should stay away from the party.”
Speaking at a press conference at the National Assembly’s Communication Hall on July 12, Ahn later reiterated his position in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.
“I officially oppose Han Dong-hoon’s return to the People Power Party,” Ahn wrote, explaining that his position changed following controversy surrounding his testimony in the trial of Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho.
Ahn said he had previously been open to Han’s return if allegations related to the party’s internal online bulletin board had been clearly addressed. However, he said recent developments after the trial led him to change his position.
“After testifying as a witness in Mayor Choo Kyung-ho’s trial, I witnessed reactions I never imagined,” Ahn said. “It was a preview of the chaos that would unfold if Han Dong-hoon were to return to the party.”
According to Ahn, his testimony concerned only facts that he personally heard and confirmed regarding the events of December 3, 2024, when martial law was declared.
He stated that fellow party members gathered at the party headquarters had told him that “it was then-party leader Han Dong-hoon who first suggested gathering at the party headquarters,” adding that he later confirmed the information through official party records.
“I testified solely based on facts, neither for nor against anyone,” Ahn said.
He criticized Han for portraying his testimony as distortion and incitement, saying, “Turning truthful testimony into falsehood is itself the dissemination of false information and defamation.”
Ahn also pointed out that Han had been summoned several times as a witness in the same trial but had not appeared.
“If he has something to say, he should stop hiding behind claims of being unreachable and testify in court,” Ahn said.
Ahn further argued that preventing the implementation of martial law was not the achievement of Han alone.
“Many PPP lawmakers were present for the parliamentary vote, and those who remained at party headquarters also issued a joint statement opposing martial law,” he said. “Why should that night’s history become the heroic narrative of only one person?”
He also criticized what he described as pro-Han figures within the party, accusing them of attacking and ridiculing fellow lawmakers for giving factual testimony in court.
Regarding his opposition to Han’s return, Ahn warned that “if this level of conflict exists while Han is outside the party, it is obvious what would happen if he returns.”
He argued that the party would fall into factional conflict and internal strife, ultimately harming conservative supporters and undermining the party’s electoral prospects.
Ahn concluded by saying, “Han Dong-hoon should stay away from our party. If he intends to establish a new party, I wish him well.”
He ended his statement by reaffirming, “Once again, I make it clear: I firmly oppose Han Dong-hoon’s return to the People Power Party.”
Meanwhile, Han previously rejected Ahn’s testimony, saying, “There should be no attempt to distort the facts simply because time has passed.”
Han maintained that he first gathered at the party headquarters after receiving reports that access to the National Assembly had been blocked before later moving to the Assembly, arguing that Ahn’s testimony misrepresented the sequence of events.
